Title: Hurricane Electric IRC server down?
Post by: Krellan on May 08, 2011, 09:42:31 PM
Not sure if this forum is the correct place for this, but I just noticed today that these are unreachable:

irc.he.net
irc.ipv6.he.net

I'm guessing these are pretty low priority and just haven't been rebooted yet, after HE's recent datacenter hiccup a few days ago?

I rather like using IRC over IPv6, as it's a great way to test the tunnel, and there's a vanity/coolness factor involved when you see an IPv6 address in the user list :)

It could be bad weather there that is causing it. It also could be your local connection. sometimes your connection can be good enough to connect to most pages, but you still can't get flash or other multimedia items to work.

Have you used it recently?

http://stats.efnet.org/servers/view/?sid=42

If this is the same server, its been down 7 months.

Yes, HE took their irc server down, permanently.
