Title: About the FreeDNS service
Post by: tongrider on July 20, 2010, 09:25:29 PM
The FreeDNS service can manage an entire domains ?
I meen, I just request a free domain, and setting the he.net dns as master... But when I try to add this domain, I got the message :

Zone failed validation test. ERROR: Delegation was not found. Please delegate to ns1, ns2, ns3, ns4 and ns5.he.net then retry. (co.cc / netkoma.co.cc).

But HE is see as the SOA :

> dig netkoma.co.cc soa
; <<>> DiG 9.7.0-P1 <<>> netkoma.co.cc soa
;; global options: +cmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NXDOMAIN, id: 21200
;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 1, ADDITIONAL: 0

;; QUESTION SECTION:

So I don't really understand what I'm missing ?

I'm not seeing netkoma.co.cc in WHOIS yet, so that is probably why it failed. Our service looks to see that the domain is registered at the very least. And additionally that it is pointing to at least one of our nameservers.

Give it another try.  It's looking much better now.

Thank you for your reply.

Now it's working.

But I don't really understand why... The NS entries are fine since my first post, and the free registrar co.cc is a subdomain registrar ... so the whois entries for the subdomain does not exist.

Anyway, it's good now, I can continue to play with the certification.

Regards.

"Subdomain registrar" - No.  In some of the CCTLDs, registrations go directly to the THIRD level of DNS labels.  ".cc" is one of those - no SECOND level DNS labels may be registered.
