Title: Symantic End Point Protection disables IPv6 as a default option!!!
Post by: CrystalPint on October 12, 2011, 10:59:40 AM
Finding this one consumed a lot of my time so passing it on.

Solution is to open the admin panel for end point protection and click on options for network threat protection and Configure Firewall rules for Blocking IPV6.

Symptoms are:

DHCPv6 not working with windows 7
Unable to ping static IPv6 address
Two computers configured for static IPv6 are unable to ping each other
IPv6 not working failing with windows 7

Which version of SEP are you using? I don't recall seeing this on my work laptop which runs SEP 11.x

My workstation has 11.0.5002.333 installed.

I bring up the status dialog and click on options which then presents a drop down list with a entry for "Configure Firewall Rules".

The third rule down is "Block IPv6 (Ethernet type 0x86dd).
