Title: ISP box is not pingable so I cannot recreate any tunnel
Post by: konok on April 21, 2014, 08:26:30 AM
I juste deleted my previous tunnel to be able to choose a remote endpoint closer to my home (unchanged endpoint on my side of the tunnel).

When I created this previous tunnel, my ISP box was pingable. But since a few months ago, when my ISP flashed it remotely like tens of thousands of other customers boxes, the ISP box is no more pingable. Until today, I did not think it was a mandatory requirement to have a pingable public ipv4 because my last existing tunnel created in october 2013 worked fine. Now I have destroyed this tunnel and cannot create a new one :(

There is no option to enable icmp on the box; the "no ping answer" is hardcoded in the firmware. The only available options are NAT rules for TCP/UDP traffic and no other protocol. So how may I create a new ipv6 tunnel without having to be pingable ?

Thanks

You need ICMP open for an HE tunnel.

If you cannot change this, you'll have to go to another broker like SIXXS or GoGo6

Too bad :(

Thank you for the advice. So I went back to SixXS where I was registered a few years before switching to HE. I switched to HE 4 years ago because the ipv6 throughput was higher (with a better latency too). Goodbye HE.
