Title: use dns.he.net for enthusiast test
Post by: anackin on April 24, 2010, 02:38:45 PM
Hello, to register my domain I used tools at dns.he.net. I add a zone and an AAAA record with my webserver, (Actually thre endpoint of my tunnel),

[root@stefano ~]# dig +nocomment @ns1.he.net  www.anackinhe6.net AAAA

; <<>> DiG 9.6.1-P1-RedHat-9.6.1-11.P1.fc12 <<>> +nocomment @ns1.he.net www.anackinhe6.net AAAA
; (1 server found)
;; global options: +cmd
;www.anackinhe6.net.      IN   AAAA
www.anackinhe6.net.   86400   IN   AAAA   2001:470:1f08:9ef::2
;; Query time: 208 msec
;; SERVER: 216.218.130.2#53(216.218.130.2)
;; WHEN: Sat Apr 24 23:24:36 2010
;; MSG SIZE  rcvd: 64

Can I use this name at dns.he.net to pass Enthusiast test without register the domain with a registrar?
The test always answer "Could not grab the file via IPv6 HTTP".
Thanx

IIRC wasn't HE only providing a service for reverse lookups?

In any event, I don't see an AAAA record for your host

Perhaps it hasn't propagated yet, but like I say, I think HE is only doing the reverse.

Further, is 2001:470:1f08:9ef::2 your end of the tunnel?  You'll want to take an address from your routed /64 and use it for your LAN connection.

Yes, you can host forward DNS zones with dns.he.net in addition to the reverse dns. However for beta purposes we wanted people testing the reverse portion, since we already know forward works without issue.

You have to register a domain, how else would it get into a caching NS that our servers look up against. We won't query our authoritative NS for any lookups.

Cholz, you queried for AAA not AAAA, regardless, the domain isn't even registered so it'll never work.

So buy a domain, or try and find a free registration (think co.cc did this). Domain registration for a year let alone more, shouldn't cost more than 2-3 cups of coffee.

Hmmm...could it be they didn't register the domain yet?

~$ whois anackinhe6.net

Whois Server Version 2.0

Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
for detailed information.

No match for "ANACKINHE6.NET".
>>> Last update of whois database: Thu, 14 Apr 2011 13:54:22 UTC <<<

Once again, for the nth time, we don't query ns1-5.he.net when testing.
