I have configured my router to use the HE 6to4 tunnel. It assigns a ipv6 and ipv4 address to my pc using dhcp. I have set the DNS server to be the HE anycast server, but I ipv4 is preferred on my widows 7 64-bit machines.
If I run the HE certification test it fails, unless I replace the ipv6.he.net with the ipv6 address, eg. http://[2001:470:0:64::2]/certification/cert-main.php
http://ipv6.whatismyv6.com/ gives me my ipv6 address but the normal test returns the ipv4 address.
Please help.
Brad
Unless you've changed the preference, IPv6 should be preferred
What does "netsh interface ipv6 show prefixpolicy" show?
Precedence Label Prefix
---------- ----- --------------------------------
50 0 ::1/128
40 1 ::/0
30 2 2002::/16
20 3 ::/96
10 4 ::ffff:0:0/96
5 5 2001::/32
That's the way it's supposed to be....The 2001::/32 is used first followed by the rest
what browser are you using? firefox for example can be set to turn off ipv6 dns queries.
about:config
filter ipv6
network.dns.disableIPv6
I have the problem in both Chrome and IE.
lets see ipconfig /all and netstat -nr

Ah ha.
You're using the wrong address...you're using a 6to4 address and not a 6in4 address from HE
Remove the 2002 address and add an address from your routed /64 or /48
Do I have to statically assign it? I gave the client ipv6 address to my router, and my Win PC picked the one it has up via dhcp.
Don't have to
You might want to turn off 6to4 though (along with Teredo and ISATAP
netsh int ipv6 set teredo disabled
netsh int ipv6 isatap set state disabled
netsh int ipv6 6to4 set state disabled
What range are you using? Are you doing DHCP or RA?
It looks like my Router won't do a 6in4 Tunnel, so that's why I'm getting a 6to4 tunnel connection from my ISP.
Do ipv4 addresses get preference in 6to4 tunnels? So, I really need to figure out how to get the tunnel to work directly on my PC.
On my other machine I tried to directly configute the HE tunnel, but that wouldn't even let me ping ipv6 addresses.
My interface is:

Yes, IPv4 is preferred over 6in4
What commands did you use for the tunnel?
Is your router passing protocol41?
netsh interface teredo set state disabled
netsh interface ipv6 add v6v4tunnel IP6Tunnel 10.0.1.98 66.220.18.42
netsh interface ipv6 add address IP6Tunnel 2001:470:c:10e5::2
netsh interface ipv6 add route ::/0 IP6Tunnel 2001:470:c:10e5::1
I believe the router passes protocol 41. I told it too, also isn't the 6to4 tunnel protocol 41 as well?

I think so?
Can you turn off the firewall on the router and see if that helps?
Some AV stuff will block IPv6 too because it doesn't know what it is
Turned off the firewall, no change.
Bypassed the router and I see the same thing.
If you bypassed the router you'd need to change your 10.0... IP address to your public one.
Ok, seems like the router is the problem. It is a Cisco enterprise router and the config clearly shows that 41 is allowed through.
Let's see the config and model #
Got it. Needed a reboot.
My computer still prefers ipv4.
Is it picking v4 because the metric in the route is lower?
Are you getting a 2001 address now?

BTW, cholzhauer, this was post #10000 on the forums (at least as far as the forum footer is concerned), congrats! Fitting it should go to the most prolific helper here. :)
Cheers,
Joe

Cheers,
Joe
