Hello guys,

First off, I apologize if this has already been discussed. I saw some similar threads, but I'm not sure if it's the same issue that I'm having, so therefore I'm opening a new one.

Anyways, I'm having issues with accessing certain IPv6 hosts from my computers that have the HE /48 IPv6 assigned to them. My router has HE /64 assigned to it, and it has no issues as far as I can tell, the problem is only with hosts with the /48 assigned.

Here's an example:

Ping from my router and traceroute(/64 IPv6 assigned to it):

-------
$ ping6 -c3 www.he.net
PING www.he.net(he.net) 56 data bytes
64 bytes from he.net: icmp_seq=1 ttl=57 time=79.9 ms
64 bytes from he.net: icmp_seq=2 ttl=57 time=80.1 ms
64 bytes from he.net: icmp_seq=3 ttl=57 time=79.9 ms

--- www.he.net ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 2002ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 79.924/80.034/80.197/0.117 ms

$ traceroute6 www.he.net
traceroute to www.he.net (2001:470:0:76::2), 30 hops max, 80 byte packets
1  MY_TUNNEL.ipv6.he.net (MY:TUNNEL:IP)  21.623 ms  24.068 ms  26.980 ms
ge2-5.core1.tor1.he.net (2001:470:0:c0::1)  38.102 ms  38.069 ms  38.019 ms

Here's what the same looks like from my hosts running the /48 subnet:

So the issue is only happening when I try to access certain IPv6 hosts such as www.yahoo.com or www.he.net.

Anyone have any ideas as what what's going on?

Thank you in advance.

Maybe the routing entry for your /48 has not propagated everywhere in the HE network. You should file a ticket with ipv6@he.net and ask them to look into it.

You can use http://lg.he.net/ to see what the traceroute looks like from the other end. I don't know if it will provide any additional clues.

Thanks a lot for the response kasperd!

I've gone ahead and opened a ticket with HE. I'll see what their response is.
