Azure VM tunnel

I'm trying to migrate a linux host from a EC2 VM over to Azure but I've run into a snag.  It seems the Microsoft does not allow ICMP traffic to Azure VMs.  It looks like this project is a dead end but I thought I would check and see if anyone has found a way to do this.
