I would love if you'd give a little bit more detail . . .  On a linux box, I can't stream so I can't get a list of streaming IPs to block.

Questions & Answers / Possible IPv6 Routing Issue fo...
Last post by kernelpanic1 - July 21, 2024, 03:58:17 PM
Hi, I've been having issues streaming Paramount Plus in my household for the past few weeks and started to troubleshoot after not finding anything online about major outages. Typically I'm streaming from a Chromecast 4k, but decided to test from my PC and found I was being automatically redirected to the German site at https://www.paramountplus.com/de/. If I disable my HE IPv6 tunnel, it loads the proper US site ok. This is what a traceroute looks like:

tracert www.paramountplus.com

Tracing route to paramountplus.map.fastly.net [2a04:4e42:1c::347]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1     1 ms     1 ms     2 ms  <my network>
  2     1 ms     1 ms     1 ms  <my network>
  3    13 ms     9 ms     9 ms  tunnel85994.tunnel.tserv4.nyc4.ipv6.he.net [2001:470:1f06:d7c::1]
  4     *        *        *     Request timed out.
  5     *        *        *     Request timed out.
  6     *        *        *     Request timed out.
  7    31 ms    31 ms    31 ms  2001:504:24:1::d361:2
  8    17 ms    15 ms    14 ms  2a04:4e42:1c::347

Any thoughts on this? Could this be a HE issue or possibly Paramount?

My tunnel from 2016 mysteriously disappeared too in 2023. Guess I'm not the only one. I noticed it when my only tunnel stopped working suddenly. Had to make a new one. Seems like a bungled migration that resulted in a bunch of tunnels vanishing.

I cannot get from my Tunnel Broker tunnel to Cogent's 2001:978:2:5e::17:1 and beyond. I've heard things haven't always been simple between Cogent and HE, but is there any hope that my little situation might be resolved anytime soon?

Thanks!

Unable to access a company that might very well be the #1 force against the free (as in liberty) and decentralized web that we have or once had.

Google is a robot or spider, and it doesn't allow a robot or spider to access it. Doesn't seem fair.

I suppose if HE didn't allow users to make new tunnels so easily they wouldn't consider all of the HE addresses to be potentially malicious. Are new tunnels assigned in numerical order, where old users have lower numbers?

On Android I've heard they're connecting to Google DNS server 8.8.8.8 in addition to what is in the network settings. This allows them to spy on DNS lookups and associate IP addresses with site visitors even when those sites don't have Google  advertising or tracking cookies. Is any such thing happening in the IPv6 world? With unique IP addresses, such tracking would work even better.

I had this issue from Las Vegas, it started as a captcha, then 403... would be nice if google could whitelist subdomains, or not be so aggressive on their network masks.  I have since moved to FL, and changed the tunnel endpoint, but first search to google gives me a captcha - too many of those, and you can't even get into google to file a complaint with google... I ended up forcing a ipv4 address in my local hosts file before; or using a computer that was over the WIFI router that didn't get the IPV6 DHCP information correctly forwarded.

I guess HE can't/won't put a block so they can be an allowed VPN to google?

Questions & Answers / Feature request: Add rate limi...
Last post by AntiLiberal - July 07, 2024, 09:02:00 PM
I would like to be able to rate limit the downstream connection. Limiting it to 20,000 packets per second or 5MB/sec would work for me. A way of remotely disabling the tunnel, such as by sending a special UDP packet out to the server should also work. That would have to be automated with a script.

Someone is doing a DoS attack which overloads my connection and I cannot connect to anything, even to configure the tunnel.

Unfortunately I have to turn off my tunnel for the time being or my connection could be down for as long as an hour at random times.
